Indian and/or Formal Wear

We will be having a traditional Hindu wedding. While the bride and groom, and families, will be wearing traditional Indian wedding clothing, it is not a requirement for our guests. However, we would love for you to join us in the tradition! This could include vibrant saris, kurta suits, elegant lehengas, or stylish sherwanis. If you'd like to learn more about these options, we've included a Pinterest Board below for your inspiration.

For those familiar with Sikh celebrations, it is not a requirement to cover your head or remove shoes for a Hindu ceremony.

Your First Hindu Wedding?

What to know

We're so excited to share this special day with you as we embark on our journey as husband and wife. Our wedding ceremony will be a traditional Hindu ceremony, rich in symbolism and cultural significance. Here's a glimpse of what you can expect:

Milni Ceremony (9:30 AM):
The day will begin with the Milni ceremony, a beautiful tradition where the families of the bride and groom come together for the first time. During the Milni, key members of both families meet and exchange garlands as a gesture of welcome and acceptance. It symbolizes the joining of two families and is a joyous occasion filled with laughter and warm embraces. Light refreshments will be served following the Milni.

Wedding Ceremony (10:30 AM):
The wedding ceremony itself will commence at 10:30 AM. Hindu wedding ceremonies are vibrant and involve a series of rituals, each with its own unique meaning. You'll witness the exchange of vows, the sacred fire ceremony, and other beautiful traditions that signify the union of two souls.

Lunch Reception (12pm to 4pm):
Following the ceremony, we invite you to join us for a delicious vegetarian lunch reception. In Hindu tradition, serving a vegetarian meal after a wedding ceremony is customary. This practice is rooted in the belief of Ahimsa, which emphasizes non-violence and respect for all living beings. It's also a way to ensure that all guests, regardless of their dietary restrictions, can partake in the celebratory meal.
